From our MIR "director", Ty Ennis: "The idea being Merchants in Residence is that I invite artists to showcase and sell items, in the shop side of the gallery, which they find inspirational in their everyday lives and studio practice. It's a sort of show-and-tell meets self portrait; an introduction to the space and artists for some, and an intimate glimpse at a hero for others. It could also be seen as a "so-and-so recommends."
That being said, I have invited none other than Storm Tharp to be our Fall 2011 Merchant In Residence at Nationale. He has brought some paperbacks and records which he would like to share, as well as some secrets perhaps...I'm pretty excited! We will be having an opening for Storm's unveiling tonight from 6-8PM."
